Margo Koroknay-Palicz |
My great-grands, Paul and Appolonia Eory settled in Delray in the early 1920's... opened a tavern on Vanderbilt and a candy store on the corner of Vanderbilt and Dearborn. My grandparents, Alex and Emma Ivan, opened a restaurant on Harbaugh, between Dearborn and South St., and then a flower shop in the same location. The flower shop was Ivan's Flowers. In the 1960's my parents re-opened the flower shop again in the same location. My whole family was part of Holy Cross Church, both church and school (Except my dad who belonged to the Hungarian Reformed Church). I lived in Delray from 1960 to 1968. In the same building/apartment that my grandparents and mother lived in, above the flower shop. Sadly, Margo has passed away in May, 2013. Peace be the Journey. |
