The Hungarian Pampas of Europe - 1933

About a hundred miles north-east of Budapest lies a great level stretch of land known as the Hortobagy Plain. Agriculturally sterile - because of an underlying strata of salt, this unique area is the grazing ground of Central Hungary."
Various shots of the Hortobagy Plain; longhorn cattle graze and wander about. Shepherds watch over the cattle, pump water and cook their food over an open fire. One of the men tends pigs. A horseman drives horses over the plain. Some of the men share a pot of goulash around a fire. Another herdsman lies down to sleep on the grass, with a shaggy coat over him for warmth; his dog comes to lie beside him.
