Title: Holy Cross church events
Post by: MagyarMan on October 10, 2010, 06:46:24 pm
I have attached the program of upcoming events of the Holy Cross Hungarian Catholic Church in Delray. Notice the October 10th event. This church is one of the last remaining churches from the Old Delray era since St John Cantius was forced to close it's doors and sell the church building to another church group. Holy Cross needs your help and support to stay viable and keep it's doors open. The Delray of old is almost completely gone. It will be a sad day if this church is also forced to close it's doors. So let's all do what we can to support this churches' fund raising events. The church is struggling to stay alive in Detroit's sad state of condition. So pass the word long to everyone near and far from Detroit to help support the Holy Cross church and it's efforts to remain open. If this church is forced to close, then there will be nothing left of the Old Delray that once nurtured our parents and grandparents.
Thanks to Tressa Komora for providing this information.

Hello, my name is Karen. My grandparents were from the old neighborhood and when they died all the culture and history Ive ever known ,which wasnt much, died with them. This makes me sad. I feel that America has forgotten about Hungary and if there arent enough hungarians coming into the country to refresh the culture and history, it will die out. I would like to be apart of perserving it. Everyone has a right to be apart of America but it seems like Hungary got the smallest piece of the pie. I dont know the first place to start to try and change this. Today was mt first time attending The Holy Cross Hungarian Church and I enjoyed it very much. It was the first time since my granparents died that I felt apart of my culture. I will continue to attend. If you can help me by giving me information on how to be more a part of my Magyar herritage and help to preserve it, I would be very appreciative. Thank you.
                                                                 Sincerely,
                                                               Karen Sharpe

I just wrote Mr. Bill Clinton and pled my case to him,he was the only U.S. president, I feel, ever tried to do anything for Hungary. He did atleast return the Crown of St. Stephen to its rightful owners. I don't know where this will get me. I have only attended the Holy Cross Hungarian Church once, so I don't feel like any opinion  of mine counts, but they need a Facebook page. This would be a good idea for networking  for causes. All Hungarian/Americans could ban together on Facebook to show numbers to important people. This might help tremndously in helping resurrect our culture and history in America and allow for more hungarian citizens to get to experience life in America.
