I received this Following inquiry from Matt Di Clemente.

I was wondering if you know anything about First Hungarian Lutheran Church in Detroit.
I know the congregation is closed, but the only other information I am able to find is that its records are housed at Trinity Seminary in Ohio (which is too far away for me to get to). Do you know where the church was located, or where to find a picture if the building is still standing? I would love to see information about it on your site.

We are a Hungarian Lutheran Church in New Jersey.
You may like to read our History, Links and Roots pages, and browse through our photos, where we are gathering pictures of other Hungarian churches, sites and events in "The Most Hungarian City in America" - New Brunswick.

So many of Delray's Hungarian population can trace their roots in America back to the New Brunswick, NJ area, including my own grandparents. I found the article on the Hungarian church there to be extreemly interesting, and I think you will also.

Hi again and the only thing I recall is the church was on Thaddeus and the corner of I think Cary My sis and Mathew Jozsa were married there. There was another church on the corner of dearborn and burdeno. These were the only two lutheran churches I knew of. Bob Takacs

Not sure about the church on Thaddeus but the church on the corner of Dearborn and Burdeno was Slovak Evangelical Lutheran Church - http://www.ourredeemertaylor.com/history.html Bear in mind that the name of church changed several times over the years.
