Does anyone remember the above mentioned bars?  My aunt Margaret Lessard owned the 220 Bar on Fort Street and my grandmother worked at Rosies bar, Ideal bar, and Joey Stables.

What were the bars like?  I only know of them because older relatives mentioned them to me in the past......

Do you have any old pictures of these bars?  Can you describe the atmosphere?  Were they typical bars? Did they have special festivities/happenings on a regular basis?

I was told my grandmother cooked wonderful Hungarian meals, and was wondering if they served food at Rosies, Ideal, and Joey Stables.  I think she may have worked in those bars in the 40's, 50's, possibly the early 60's.

Ideal Bar is still standing, but closed. It's located on Jefferson just west of Dearborn St. If you look in the window you can see the bar and stools are still there just as if the place could open at noon.
I've seen a photo of a place called Rose's (not Rosie's). I think it was located on Gates St. in the Carbon Works neighborhood. There are only two places left to get a drink in Delray that I know of, The Black Stallion Cantina on Jefferson (speaking Spanish is helpfull here) and The Carbon Athletic Club (a private joint, members only).

I took Maureen Hunter as my high school prom date to Joey's Stables for dinner in 1968.
