My Parents came to America in 1954 and both served proudly in World War Two, my Father with the Hungarian Army as and officer, and my Mother as Nurse. But when the Hungarian Revolution broke out he wanted to serve with the Freedom Fighters against the Russians, but my  Mother gave him ultimatum you go back I'am going back to Austria. When my Neni Ungvari and my Uncle Ungvari found out both where furious, so was Steve Jozsa who was like a Dad to my Father, they told him Hungary was surrounded by the Russians anyone entering the country would be shot, so he changed his mind. But I heard a rumor that a local Priest from one of the local Delray Church's went back and was assaulted by Russian Troops, I'am wondering any truth to that. And also how many Hungarians from Delray did go back and serve with the Freedom Fighters against the Russian. Thanks.

Interesting  question. I also wonder how many Hungarians from Delray did go back and serve with the Freedom Fighters against the Russian. I can remember my grand father remarking that he sent money to support the freedom fighters. I wish that I had got more details from him, but I was only a teenager then.

And wished the Aunt would have talked about it more after my Dad died in 1965, about the Hungarian Revolution but she didn't...

In 1956 I was 6 years old.  However, I do recall my family taking part in a mass rally in support of the Hungarians.  I recently found a copy of the Michigan Catholic newspaper dated November 8, 1956 with an article describing the event.   My parents saved the paper because we were in the photograph heading the story.

I've transcribed the story.  See attached.

This is a great glimpse into Delray history. Thanks for this transcribed story. Lots of noteable names. With your permission, I would like to add this to the Old Delray website.

I would be honored.   Please, go ahead and post it to the web site.   By the way, I recently inherited several trunks and boxes of photos, newspaper articles and other objects from my grandfather and my parents.  It is filled with many historical items about Delray.   My plan is to scan and submit them to this forum and the web site.  It takes time to digitize but its worth it to keep the memories alive.

Thank you for creating this virtual museum.
