I almost forgot about that untill you mentioned it. I can still remember the great smell. Kolbalz and big slabs of Szalonna hanging from the ceiling. Great memories from a great place. No one who has ever been there could ever forget it. I remember the pigs on the wall outside of this butcher store. Wish I had a picture of that.

Hi Everyone!

I worked at Tony's Market as a little boy.  The butchers I remember were Tony, Steve, Joe, and my brother who also worked the counter.  There was one more butcher, but I don't recall his name.  He was short, & thin and older than the rest.

Rose worked the cash register, and Tony's wife Mary worked the cash register too.  All very pleasant people at Tony's Market!

Tony had a farm on Pennsylvania Avenue, which I believe was Southgate, and I made many trips there with Tony and others from the market to feed the pigs and other animals.  We also went to the slaughter house to take care of the hogs.  It was interesting how they were put down/processed for selling at the market.  As a little boy, and the youngest of the group when we went to the slaughter house, I had a unique job that was part of the process.  Boy, it sure was not my favorite job!!

Appreciate that went to the farm when I was very young maybe once or twice, with my Aunt who knew Tonyand his wife well. The Buther was good friend of my Father's think he worked only part--time there. My father's friend that worked part -time at Tony's his name was Ludwig and had Gold tooth that's all remember of him....And is Tony or his wife still alive.?
